Mikiya Ito is a Japanese drummer and official Ludwig Artist based in New York City. Born and raised in Japan, he began his musical journey at a young age, influenced by his father, a singer-songwriter.

Mikiya’s sound is deeply rooted in R&B, Funk, Soul, and Hip-Hop. Since moving to NYC, he has established himself as a versatile force in the city’s vibrant music scene. This unique blend of influences culminates in his latest release of original music, In Translation.

The project portrays the four seasons of Japan, built on the idea that once you start translating, you immediately lose the nuance of the original meaning.

 

The music captures this state of being "in translation"—existing in the moment before meaning is fully defined—mirrored by the fleeting beauty of the changing seasons.
